In an episode of the Fox TV drama “Bones”, a character made a mix of “the five greatest break-up songs” and gave it to a heart-broken colleague. The mix featured songs from alternative pop stars Sia, Mazzy Star, José González, Antony and the Johnsons…and an unsigned artist by the name of Aaron English.
Nashville-based singer-songwriter/pianist Aaron English’s soul-searching songs are soulful, sophisticated, cinematic…and filled with echoes of his travels through Africa, Brazil...
Kim and I are both lifelong music lovers, and for me, that includes years of playing music and being close with many traveling musicians. We’ve been to our share of house concerts and have always loved how intimate and meaningful they can be. So we decided to open up our home to create a space where artists—whether local or on the road—can find a place to play in between their bigger shows.
We aim for a balance: a place where the music can really be heard and appreciated, but in a setting that still feels casual, comfortable, and fun—where performers and guests connect on a personal level. We love to host, and we usually put out some food to make it feel like a gathering as much as a show. Our living room—with its tall ceilings and hardwood floors—makes for a great-sounding room. Whether it’s a solo act or a full band with drums and bass, we’ve welcomed it.
Hosting artists such as Monte Montgomery, Javier Mendoza (Hobo Cane), McLeod Nine, Dan McGuire, and Mia Borders. Each show has its own feel, but the goal is always the same: to create a shared experience where the music shines and everyone—on stage and off—walks away feeling connected, present, and part of something memorable.
